Frankenmuth is located in southeastern
Saginaw County. This town was first settled by a group of Lutherans
from Bavaria, Germany, led by Rev. Friedrich August Craemer in 1847.
Intended as a missionary settlement, it was given its name from
Franconia, a region of Bavaria, and "muth," which in German means:
"courage."
