Pine River Township, Michigan

	Pine River Township is located in Gratiot County’s northwest border. Its main communities are Alma and St. Louis, along with the small community of Forest Hill. This area was first settled in 1855 by Joseph Clapp, a sawmill owner, Dr. Abram Crawford and L. D. Preston, who founded the town of Pine River. Pine River consolidated with St. Louis in 1865, but the township name remained. Today, the area remains primarily agricultural, with corn and dry beans as the main crops
