Watervliet Township lies on the I-94 Chicago-Detroit corridor in northern Berrien County Michigan. It is a thriving community with a commitment to economic development and an enriched lifestyle. One of the area's most recent endeavors is the active participation in the Coloma, Watervliet Area Economic Development Corporation (CWAEDC), made up of five communities, two cities and three townships.
The largest community in Watervliet Township is the town of Watervliet. While Lake Michigan is only a few short miles away, the inland lakes and waterways of Watervliet Township render prime spots for fishing and other water activities. Paw Paw Lake provides an excellent place to troll for pan fish and canoers to paddle the Paw Paw River. The regions's abundant harvest of juicy, ripe fruits and vegetables are sold at roadside stands. In some instances you can pick your own right from the field. Stop at the Artesian Flow Rest Park in the south-central portion of the township. This park, located on M-140 south of Watervliet, has a picnic area, BBQ grills and some of the most excellent spring drinking water in the state. |
