	Solon Township is located on the northwestern border of Kent County, approximately 20 miles north of Grand Rapids. This is a well-developed, rural community, with many zoned subdivisions and residential areas, mixed with small farms. Its largest community is Cedar Springs, located on the eastern township line. Main traffic routes include US-131, N/S bound, and M-46, E/W bound. A major feature of this township is beautiful Long Lake Park. Easily accessed just off of M-46 to the south, this park includes a beach, playground, shelter house and several picnic areas. Solon Township was organized in 1857, with its first supervisor Edward Jewell. The Solon Center School District was formed a year later.
