	Colfax Township is located in the southeastern corner of Benzie County. Its main communities are Thompsonville, (where the township hall is located), and Nessen City. The area began at Nessen City as a sawmill station on the Manistee and Northwestern Railroad in the late 1880�s. Its main geographical features are the Betsie and Little Betsie Rivers, which wind their way through the beautiful Pere Marquette State Forest, which comprises over two thirds of the township.
