Cleveland Township is located in southern Leelanau County on the shoreline of Lake Michigan at Good Harbor. It is bisected by M-22 to the north near the coastline. The township hall is located on this highway, at the junction of Co. Road #669. This highly scenic area contains several inland lakes, including Bass Lake and Little Traverse Lake, along with many large hilly areas where a breathtaking view of the Lake Michigan shoreline can be seen. It is also the home of the Sugarloaf Ski Area. A public beach is accessible at north end of Co. Road #669, about two miles north of the Township Hall.
