Brown Township is located in the near southwestern corner of Manistee County. This township has contrasting geography, with rolling hills, forests and small farms to the north and a marshy area of the Manistee River, called "Bayau Country," to the south.

The township hall sits on a cliff overlooking Coats Highway, which divides the township in half.

To the south, the Manistee River flows through a unique ecology of low lying marshes and back-flooded areas. Places such as Brown�s, Borski�s, Deer Lake and Sergant Bayous are a sure "lure" for serious fishermen. With three public access sites available, opportunity knocks!
