Augusta Charter Township Population: 2000() 1990() Change()
Augusta Township is located in the extreme Southeast corner of Washtenaw County. The township consists of 36 square miles and is mostly rural with residential properties currently under development. Augusta also has the state\'s largest primary and secondary educational campus known as the Lincoln Consolidated Schools.
Augusta also has two villages, one located on the east side known as Willis and the other centrally located known as Whittaker where the township hall and fire station now resides.
Augusta is a Charter Township government consisting of the traditional Township Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer and a Board Members. Services include a Utility Department and a Fire Department.
The Utility Department proudly serves the residents needs for water and sewer and other applicable services.
The Fire Department, a paid-on-call organization, proudly serves the residents and the public-at-large for fire prevention and life safety , emergency medical response, fire suppression and HazMat mitigation. The fire department maintains of force consisting of a Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Fire Inspector, Captain, Lieutenant, two Sergeants and the balance made up of firefighters.
At the present, the population of the township is about 6,200 persons.
