Lewiston - Albert Township Population: 2000() 1990() Change()

Lewiston is located in Albert Township in southeastern Montmorency County.

Situated on the eastern half of Twin Lake, this town started in the early 1890s during the lumber boom when the Michelson & Hanson Lumber Co. built a mill and general store in the area. It was named after Lewiston, New York, like many northern Michigan towns which were originally settled by New York natives.

This town has thrived over the years serving the resort community which developed around the lake. It is also considered to be located in a prime hunting area frequented by sportsmen during the late autumn and early winter.
