Historical Society

Pine Grove Museum sits on 4 1/2 acres and is the home of former Governor Moses Wisner. The estate includes the Wisner mansion, outbuildings, the Drayton Plains One-Room Schoolhouse, and the Carriage House, which is home to the Reseach Library and the Pioneer Museum.

Polk's City Directories for Pontiac-our directories date back to the late 1800's. There are large gaps in the earliest years, but after 1922 the collection is much more complete. The Polk directories end at 1961 and Pontiac phone books begin in 1971, continuing through the present.
Pontiac Press/Oakland Press-our collection of microfilm dates back to the late 1800's.
Historical Pictures-the R.H. Frye Photography Studio donated a collection of photographs of Pontiac and the surrounding area. These photos date back to the early 1900's through about the 1950's and provide a fascinating picture of what life was like in Pontiac in the first half of this century.
Pontiac Collection-this collection includes annual city reports, historical maps, biographical sketches and histories of the City of Pontiac and Oakland County, and much more.
Michigan Collection-this collection includes historical, geographical, biographical and statistical information about Michigan and Detroit. Recent additions include books dealing with Michigan's greatest asset, the Great Lakes.
