|
Roscommon County is centrally located in the lower penninsula of Michigan. The most prominent geographical features are beautiful Higgins
and Houghton Lakes, with the latter being Michigan's largest body of inland
water, and the source of the Muskegon River. Both of these large and beautiful
lakes are the host of various vacation and living oppourtunities for thousands
of residents, visitors, and tourists each year. Settlers from eastern Europe started to develop the land in the
mid to late 1800's, during Michigan's logging boom era. This county was also the
source for some of the largest White Pine forests and thus the home to loggers
and their support industries. |
