|
Presque Isle County is a four season wonderland with more than 300 miles of streams, nearly 100 inland lakes, and 72 miles of beautiful Lake Huron shoreline set in the northeast corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The county covers more than 400,000 acres, a quarter of which are public lands. The county offers a four season schedule of events including fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, hiking, and just plain relaxing on the miles of clean, sandy beaches. The county is rich in maritime history as well, with three lighthouses and two active Great Lakes shipping ports. Presque Isle County continues to top the list for big game fishermen, ranking as the state's best Chinook salmon fishery. Hunters will find plenty of opportunities for upland birds, waterfowl, snowshoe hares, turkey, whitetails and plenty of black bear. Presque Isle County offers more than 50 kilometers of groomed cross country ski trails and more than 125 miles of groomed snowmobile trails for winter sports fans. In the summer, a Clasic Wooden Boat Show in June, an old fashioned Fourth of July bash in Onaway, Rogers City's Nautical Festival in late July, and salmon tournaments in August - And then over the Labor Day weekend, a full summer of fun for the whole family!
