Ottawa County was named after the Ottawa Indian tribe who lived along the banks
of the Grand River. One of the first settlers was Rix Robinson. He lived with
his Indian wife on the Grand River and managed fur trading operations from
Kalamazoo to the Grand Traverse Bay. Inland you will find some of the richest farmland anywhere in Michigan, with specialty crops such as blueberries. Make no mistake about it: theres plenty to do in Ottawa County! Be sure to make it a part of your vacation! |
