Romeo, Michigan48065

Photos courtesy of: Ken Huisjen | Romeo is 1.75 square miles in size and is located in northwestern Macomb County on M-53. This community is part of the greater Detroit metro area, but still retains much of its small town charm, as evidenced by its turn-of-the century architecture. First called the Hoxey Settlement in 1822, and then later Indian Village, it eventually was given its final name at the suggestion from a Mrs. Laura Taylor, who felt the name should be short, musical, classical and uncommon. Romeo was officially established as a village in 1838.
Attractions include the "Where Art Thou Romeo" Art walk during the first weekend in October, the Romeo Historical Museum, the Romeo Home Tour during the third weekend in May, the Michigan Peach Festival in September and the Romeo Historical Society's Craft Show the first weekend in December.
