Potterville, Michigan48876

Photos courtesy of: Ken Huisjen | Potterville is located in the mid eastern section of Eaton County, about five miles northeast of Charlotte, at the junction of the Vermontville Highway and Interstate 69. Situated about 12 miles from greater Lansing to the northeast, it functions primarily as a bedroom community. It has a small business district that contains several small stores, unique shops and restaurants, along with a grain elevator situated on a still active railroad line.
Potterville was first settled by Linus Potter in 1844. Upon his death a couple of years later, the eldest of his seven children, George Potter, led the family in clearing the land, and eventually building a sawmill and boarding house, which later became a hotel in 1868. It was incorporated as a village in 1881 and later as a city in 1962.
