  Ken Huisjen | Omena is a small, scenic community on the east side of Leelanau County in Leelanau Township, overlooking Grand Traverse Bay. It contains several resorts, stores and a post office . A major archetectural feature of the area is the First Presbyterian Church on the west end of town. Also, the beach to the north is a nice place for a picnic or a swim in the cool, quiet waters of Omena Bay. This area is also unique for several cherry wineries featuring the best of the regions cherry crop, which the Grand Traverse and Leelanau areas are especialy know for.
