Mancelona is located in the Southeast corner of Antrim County on US131. This village, incorporated in 1889, was named for the daughter of Perry Andress who first homesteaded here in 1869 with his family.

Two major events taking place in Mancelona are the Bass Festival in the spring and the White Pine Stampede in January of every year, the Stampede drawing cross country skiers from around the world.

The downtown area has been undergoing a major change, and improvements to the businesses and the general appearance of the downtown area are nearly complete along the M88 thoroughfare. Also near the downtown area is a large park with ball fields and a campground, playground.
