Dansville, Michigan48819

Ken Huisjen | Dansville is located in southeastern Ingham County along M-36 at the junction of Williamston Road. This is a small agricultural town that has survived the years because of its location to greater metropolitan areas, such as Lansing and Brighton. Its economy is supported primarily by small business, agriculture research and production. It has its own school and is the location of the Ingham Township Hall. A notable landmark in the town includes a well-preserved horse-drawn fire engine house, circa 1867.
Dansville was first settled by Samuel Crossman, who mover here from New York and built a general store in 1844. His son, Daniel Crossman, officially platted the village in 1857, naming it not only after himself, but also after Dr. Daniel T. Weston, the towns first postmaster. It was eventually incorporated as a village a decade later, with Crossman as President.
