Comstock Park is a northwestern suburb of Grand Rapids, located in Plainfield Township in Kent County.
This town is best known as the location for Old Kent Park, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps baseball team. This is a fast-growing area with many new housing developments and small businesses. A great place to appreciate this area is from Mill Creek Park downtown, where you can hike for several blocks along the stream. A duck pond and playscape area provides an attraction for the children.
This town was originally named North Park by its founder, Daniel North, who built a sawmill there in 1838. It was later named Mill Creek in 1848, and became a station on both the Grand Rapids & Indiana and Chicago & Western Railroads. In 1906, the town was renamed Comstock Park, after Charles C. Comstock, who represented the district in Congress from 1885-1886.
