Cass City is located in the middle of the upper Thumb of Michigan near the north and south forks of the Cass River. Both the river and the village were named after General Lewis Cass, the territorial governor of Michigan in the earlier 1800s. Today, Cass City is a well balanced community with a strong industrial base and a viable business district, a good school system and many recreational facilities. It is a prime area for the deer and bird hunter. Wild turkeys, pheasants, and partridge are plentiful. Public access to the Cass River offers canoeing and pike, bass and perch fishing. The Cass City Recreational Park is a 120 acre park located within the village limits and has an Olympic-size swimming pool available for a modest fee.
