Casnovia is located in the extreme eastern portion of Muskegon County, with half of the town contained in eastern Kent County in Tyrone Township. It is situated on top of a hill overlooking mid-west Michigan’s beautiful orchard country. This town was founded in 1850 by tavern keeper Lot Fulkerson. It was organized as a village in 1875. Its name means: "new home," from the latin root words: casa, (home), and nova, (new).
