Windsor Charter Township Population: 2000(7340) 1990(6460) Change(880)
Windsor Township is situated on the near- northeastern edge of Eaton County. Its largest community is Dimondale, where the township offices, (including a hall, fire station and library), are located. This picturesque community contains pleasant rolling land and small hills, divided by the Grand River running through it. It consists primarily of rural/residential land, with a few small business located in and near the Dimondale area, just two miles south of the I-96 intersection with I-69/US-27.
This township was first settled by settlers from Windsor, Vermont, who started a town here by the same name in 1837, about two miles west of Dimondale. That town was officially organized in 1842, but over the years dwindled in size due to the preference of the railroad coming through Dimondale. |
