Reeder Township Population: 2000(1112) 1990(772) Change(340)
Reeder Township is located in the near southwestern portion of Missaukee County.
This is a rural area with mixed farm and marshlands, except for its northwest corner, which is more developed being connected to Lake City, the county seat.
This township was named after Daniel Reeder, who founded Lake City in 1868, building the first log cabin there and becoming the first postmaster. The city was named Reeder at the time, and it was eventually voted the county seat in 1873. The name changed to Lake City in 1877, but the township remained in his name. |
