Newark Township, Michigan

	Newark Township was organized in 1857, with John H. Schafer the first postmaster. The post office remained until 1902. The township hall is located at Newark Center, in the middle of the township, and in the middle of many farms growing dry beans and corn, like most of Gratiot County. It also contains a fourth of the city of Ithaca in its northeast corner, including the raceway.
