Morton Township is located in Mecosta County's central, southeastern section. It is known for its series of lakes, including: Canadian Lakes, Blue Lake, and Lake Mecosta. It also contains Schoolsection Lake Park, which is a historical site going back to the Civil War, when black slaves and freed men came to settle in this area. A historical marker in front of the old fieldstone house documents these events.
The township hall and library are located in Mecosta, just a few miles north of the Park.
