Population: 2,487 (1990) Lake Charter Township is situated in western Berrien County, Michigan on the Lake Michigan shoreline. The largest community in this township isBridgman with a population of just over 2,000 (1990). The pride of this municipality shines through it's neighborhoods and schools. The Bridgman Schools have been rated among the best in the country by Money Magazine. This township has two of the area's favorite parks/beaches, Warren Dunes State Park and Weko Beach. Each boasts large sandy beaches and beautiful scenery. Warren Dunes, on Red Arrow Highway, south of Bridgman, offers huge dunes, hiking, cross country ski trails, and camping.. Weko Beach has a wonderful beach house with a concession stand, changing areas, restrooms, a cold outdoor shower and volleyball nets. The beach also has a lovely boardwalk, two dune overlooks and the playing of "Taps" at dusk on summer evenings. North of Bridgman, just off I-94, is the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant. The Cook Energy Information Center presents hands on science displays and many specialty shows throughout the year.
