Holland Township is situated at Missaukee Countys southeastern corner.
Over three-fourths of it is contained in the Missaukee State Forest, with much of it freshwater swampland, fed by several small streams. It contains the small farming community of Moddersville, which has a store, church and the township hall.
This area was first settled by Dutch immigrant Wynand Modders in 1878. It was given a post office in 1890, when the town was officially named Moddersville. The post office remained until 1934. |
