Highland Township is located on the near northeastern border of Osceola County. This township is certainly well-named, as it is part of an area, including Burdell and Sherman townships, situated as the highest point in the Lower Pennsula.

The land is rural, mixed with small forests between well-kept farms consisting primarily of cattle and growing feed. It contains the presently small but historic community of Pisgah Heights, which still displays an old one-room schoolhouse that was active from days gone by.

It is divided diagonally by M-115 which runs northwest by southeast through the middle. Nearby cities include Marion and McBain.
