Evart Township, Michigan
49631
 |
The first recorded settlers in this area included Edward Manes in 1865. The township was organized April 5, 1870 by the Osceola County Commission. This was an important railroad stop serving several townships and saving a 35 mile wagon trip to Big Rapids. Where the Flint and Pere Marquette Railroad once lay now runs the Pere Marquette Rails to Trails with its refurbished station. There are many streams and lakes in this township, including the Muskegon River. It also includes the southern half of the city of Evart. |
