Cedar Township Population: 2000(406) 1990(267) Change(139)
Cedar Township is located in central/southwestern Osceola County. This is a rural, wooded area, with parts of it contained in the Pere Marquette State Forest. It contains 7 small lakes, including Strawberry and Horsehead Lakes. It also contains the Swiss Alpine Sub Division on Horseshoe and Round Lakes.
G.S. Slaybough was the first settler and he became the first superviser when Cedar Township was organized in 1871. Much valuable timber was harvested from its vast stores and the land today is used for raising cattle and other livestock as well as hay. It is also a very desirable hunting area. |
