	Caldwell Township is located on Missaukee County’s near northwestern border. This rural area contains the small community or Arlene, once a small town at the turn of the century, when in 1904 it had a general store and post office, operated by Martin Duffy. The township was organized in 1871, named after Thomas T. Caldwell, who ran in the first county election that year. A post office operated there until 1906. Today, the township hall is located at Arlene. Most of the area consists of small agricultural or Christmas tree farms. There are also several small lakes and a ski hill, Missaukee Mountain, to the south.
