Buchanan Township is located in southern Berrien County. The St. Joseph River along with various lakes provide ample sites for water recreation. Fishermen and boaters can find access to the St. Joseph River at Redbud Riverfront Park just north of town on Redbud Trail.

Also nearby is Michiana Raceway Park, a nationally known go-cart racing school with a challenging quarter mile asphalt road course featuring a 180 degree hairpin.
