PAL - Police Athletic League

The mission of the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL), in partnership with the Detroit Police Department, is to promote educational and recreational opportunities for young Detroiters through community-based programs that will help them become productive, contributing members of society. PAL offers 15 athletic programs and a Youth Advisory Council program throughout the year. PAL serves as both the sanctioning body and organizer for each program. PAL officers serve as program commissioners for each athletic program. Other dedicated police officers serve as coaches and mentors, along with civilian coaches and volunteers. All youth are taught the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and good citizenship while learning the fundamentals of the sports activity. Each program is offered in a safe, positive environment to help create a bond between the officers and the youth of Detroit. To participate in any PAL program, you must obtain a PAL membership and ID. PAL memberships are $3.00 for one full year.
