Kalkaska County, Michigan

Kalkaska county is located in the northwestern part of the Lower Peninsula and is traversed by US131. Elevation in the county ranges from about 595 feet to about 1246 feet. The Pere Marquette State Forest covers much of the county, which also contains considerable marshland.

The county also contains many lakes and rivers, including the north branches of the Manistee and Boardman rivers.

The county seat is the village of Kalkaska, also home to most of the counties major events, including the annual county fair.
