Wixom, Michigan

Wixom is a Detroit-based suburb situated in southwestern Oakland County. This area was first settled in 1831 by 3 men: Lewis Norton, Alonzo Sibley, and Abijah Wixom. It was originally called Sibleys corners. In 1871, the area was officially platted by Willard Wixom, Abijahs son. It incorporated as a village in 1957 and into a city a year later.

Today, Wixom has become a major suburban area as well as a site for manufacturing, including the large Ford production plant which can be seen from I-96 to the north. Its modern city hall complex includes a community center, library and playground.
