Saint Clair, Michigan

In 1818, James Fulton became the sole owner of land here and named the village after the lake adjacent to it. The lake was first named St. Clare by LaSalle who entered in on Aug 12, 1679, the feast day of Ste. Clare. Later the spelling was changed for General Arthur St. Clair, first general governor of the Northwest Territory.

Today, St. Clair boasts excellent restaurants, hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts. The river offers opportunities to jet ski, sail, scuba dive, and more. Stroll the world's longest freshwater boardwalk. The St. Clair Boat Harbor, a 200 slip boat marina, provides the finest boating facilities. Also in the area is a challenging nine hole municipal golf course and an olympic size outdoor swimming pool.
