Rails to Trails:

Reed City, Michigan

The Pere Marquette Trail parallels US 10 from Ludington to Midland. The part of the trail that runs through Reed City is paved from Patterson Road on the west end of town to Business 10 on the east. Almost any time of the day or evening, you can find someone enjoying themselves along the path, biking walking, jogging or just enjoying the landscaping. There are also benches situated along the way for pedestrians to rest.

The formation of this Park can be credited to an active and committed Rails to Trails Committee staff, who worked hard to make the Trail the quality that it is. At present, the Reed City section of the Trail is being showcased as the beginning of an ongoing project to pave the trail across the State. The trail is now paved from Reed City to Hersey, about a three mile stretch. The Pere Marquette Trail goes through Evart (3 miles paved) and another 2 miles towards Hersey (from Evart) are being paved right now.
