|Powers is located in Spaulding Township in central Menominee County in Michiganís upper peninsula - at the junction of US-2 and US-41. It lies about 30 miles north of Menominee and about 20 miles west of Escanaba. This is a small but growing residential community which is economically supported by lumber and tourism. It is also located along one of the main lines of the Wisconsin Central Railroad.|
This area was originally purchased in 1872 by Edward Powers, a civil engineer for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He platted and developed the area, with a post office eventually opening here in 1877. It eventually was organized as a village in 1915.
