Powers is located in Spaulding Township in central Menominee County in Michigans upper peninsula - at the junction of US-2 and US-41. It lies about 30 miles north of Menominee and about 20 miles west of Escanaba. This is a small but growing residential community which is economically supported by lumber and tourism. It is also located along one of the main lines of the Wisconsin Central Railroad.

This area was originally purchased in 1872 by Edward Powers, a civil engineer for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He platted and developed the area, with a post office eventually opening here in 1877. It eventually was organized as a village in 1915.
