Photos courtesy of: MultiMag, Inc. | Cassopolis is a very scenic and historic town located between beautiful Diamond and Stone Lakes. It was named after then Territorial Governor, Lewis Cass and became the Cass County seat in 1831, just 2 years after Cass County was formed. Cassopolis is the home of Edward Lowe, the inventor of kitty litter. It is also the home of Air Force Captain Ivan Kincheloe, who set a once world record in high altitude flight of 156,000 feet in an early X-2 rocket jet.
Today, Cassopolis retains its historic look with its limestone courthouse built in 1899 and other turn-of-the-century buildings. It is also a good starting point for visiting the many lakes and parks in the county.
